1. How did you become interested in radio?
It's in my DNA. My dad is a radio and TV broadcaster, and I caught the bug by hanging out with him. I used to go into the production studio, plug in the headphones, and listen to myself talk into the mic. It was a bug that I've never been able to shake. There's no cure!
2. What led to KOMA-HD2 flipping from Top 40 to Alternative at the end of 2015?
The Alternative format has been absent from the market for a couple of years, and we felt that there was enough great product right now to support this venture.
3. How would you describe the music and imaging on 92.9 The Edge?
Straight ahead alternative, that leans a bit on the pop side.
4. What do we need to know about Tyler Media?
We are a locally owned and operated media company that super serves the Oklahoma community.
5. How would you describe yourself as a programmer?
I keep my finger on the pulse of the market, and pay attention to what people are listening to, and talking about. With technology being what it is, listeners are finding new music before radio is discovering it. I am conservative in many ways, but definitely not afraid to break a record that fits the vibe of the station and the market. Music is our main product, so I'm very active musically. I've always believed that stations reflect the personality of those who program them, and I'm very energetic, and quirky, so stations I program have an energetic, fun sound.
6. How are you getting the word out about OKC's New Rock Alternative?
We're very active on Social Media. Tyler Media owns all of the bus benches around Oklahoma City, and we have some digital billboards. We also have a large street team ready to hit the streets. The Tyler Media stations can now be heard not only on our own individual apps, but also on the iHeartRadio, and TuneIn Radio apps.
7. What would surprise people most about The Edge?
That we almost named it THE HEDGE. Long story... LOL!
8. What part of your job do you love the most?
I love music, so I would have to say spending the day surrounded by music is the best part. I love all aspects of the job, but music is such an integral part of our lives, it's definitely the best part.
9. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without ______?
My iPhone! It's pretty scary that a piece of technology has so much control over me.
10. What would surprise people most about you?
While I'm extroverted professionally, I'm very introverted personally.
