BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
My 10th year with Cumulus Broadcasting, including PD of Rock WRRX/Pensacola and Rock KRCH/Rochester, MN. Also, KRWQ/Des Moines, WNCD/Youngstown, WWRX/Providence, WFNX/Boston, and WMAD/Madison.
LAST NON-INDUSTRY JOB:
Temp agency work unloading trucks
FIRST RECORD EVER PURCHASED:
Rolling Stones "Through the Past Darkly" and Led Zeppelin 2.

FAVORITE BANDS OF ALL-TIME:
Rolling Stones, Hendrix, AC/DC, Dylan, Miles Davis, Tool, and Pearl Jam.
1. How did you become interested in radio?
Hanging out at the local radio station where my father worked at 15.
2. What was your favorite station to listen to when you were a kid?
Early AOR's WNCR & WMMS/Cleveland and WZMF/Milwaukee.
3. What's one thing that would surprise many people to learn about you?
I own cats
4. What part of your job do you like best? Least?
Best: Working with a great team here in T-Town as well as the Atlanta brain trust; John Dickey, Val Garris, and Jan Jeffries.
Least: Time management.
5. What would an outsider find most surprising about the Toledo radio market?
There are a wealth of events year round. Toledo recently received the International Award for livable communities grabbing the silver award for cities with a population under 750,000. Toledo is also only an hour from Detroit, and hour and a half from Cleveland and about four hours to Chicago. You might also be surprised to know Toledo is one of the safest cities in the U.S.
6. What makes The Zone unique?
A balance that showcases new music matched up with a proven core library that the Zone audience is very passionate about. We also have a very active local music scene. Last year APD/MD Carolyn Stone helped produce "Toledo Rocks" a 12 track CD with artist featured on our "Homegrown Zone" program, including We Are The Fury now signed to EastWest. "Toledo Rocks" is already on its second pressing and is available at Toledo retailers, including Best Buy.
7. How would you describe the music and imaging on the station?
Up front and irreverent at the same time using those same elements to highlight and make our currents more familiar to the audience. We also include our audience along with artists for our "I'm In The Zone" sweepers that are constantly updated by our morning guy Murphy.
8. Give a rundown on The Zone on-air lineup with a brief description of each jock?
Murphy In The Morning: a balance of music and lifestyle events, very interactive.
Middays: Carolyn Stone (MD/APD) -- she is in her third year at The Zone, host of the "All request Lunch Zone" and holds the stations most consistent numbers.
Afternoons: Open at presstime.
Nights: Andrea -- she has been on staff for a number of years, very connected with the local scene, and co-hosts/co-produces "The Home Grown Zone."
9. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without ____________?
Coffee at work and Guinness after work.
10. What career path would you be following had it not been for this industry?
For some of us, we don't choose radio, radio chooses us. Why would you want another career path?
