BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started as a promotions intern at KSLZ/St. Louis in high school. From there, off to college in Champaign, IL where I did just about everything I could at WPGU. Brad Savage hired me away to do MD/nights at WMAD/Madison and now I'm pumped to be at WFXH/Savannah-Hilton Head as Dustin Matthews' Music Director and midday chick.
LAST NON-INDUSTRY JOB:
Slinging burgers at a burger joint in Madison.
FIRST RECORD EVER PURCHASED:
Cassette - Michael Jackson "Bad" CD - The Cranberries "Everybody Else Is Doing It..."
FIRST CONCERT:
Spin Doctors/Gin Blossoms/Cracker. Dad took me and I still have the Spin Doctors t-shirt.

1. How did you become interested in radio?
I love music and I loved free stuff and figured radio would be a great combination of both -- if radio gives away free tickets to concerts I want to go to. I might as well just work there, right? I got hooked up with a promotions internship at KSLZ and Jill Devine was awesome to show me the ropes. I was hooked from there.
2. What made you want to work at WFXH?
WFXH has so many good things going for it -- passionate fans, a great history and an awesome staff. I love working with everyone here and felt at home immediately. And really, you can't beat the weather - I don't miss Madison, WI at all this winter!
3. What part of your job do you like best? Least?
Best: I have a lunchtime feature called "Leslie's Lunchbox." It's a different theme every day and I have a ton of fun programming it.
Least: I like it all. Bring it!
4. What would an outsider find most surprising about Savannah-Hilton Head?
Since our market is Savannah AND Hilton Head, it's easy to lump the two together, but it's surprising how different the two are. Savannah is a military and artsy town, whereas Hilton Head is a ritzy island with its own laid back attitude.
5. What makes Rock 106.1 unique?
We are on the Alternative panel, but rock pretty hard. During the day, we play a "classic" song from AC/DC, Van Halen, GNR, etc., while still playing things like My Chemical Romance and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. It makes for a unique mixture of all things that rock.
6. What would surprise people most about you?
I'm a big hip-hop fan.
7. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _________?
Checking my email... though ask in a few months and "sweet tea" might be my answer.
8. Besides WFXH, what is your favorite radio station and why?
I grew up listening to KPNT, and that's still a favorite. Q101 and CD101 are also great musically. And of course, WMAD as an Alternative station.
9. Biggest career highlight?
My biggest career highlight thus far came recently as WFXH did really well in the Fall Book. It's great to program a station that gets such a good response.
10. What career path would you be following had it not been for this industry?
Being a make-up artist might be fun. Probably anything that doesn't involve that Comm degree I have.
Bonus Questions
What are your hobbies?
Catching up on all the TV I record, traveling, cooking, and I'm pretty hooked on Sudoku.
