BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I was constructed by NiFE-CORP industries in the late-'70s to be used for janitorial duties. I started as an intern at age 15 at KPEK & KTEG/Albuquerque running the board during promo meetings. A weekend jock overslept his shift for the Edge, I was standing there, and Rob Poole put me on the air. Skip Eisley called me that week and gave me a weekend shift. I went to college and gathered some sweet debt. Finally went to KFMA to apply just days after they lost two parttimers. Chuck Roast (Robert Cross) and John Michael hired me on, and I worked 72 days straight that summer. Finished school and Libby hooked me up with nights/Web Master. After Kallao left for 91X, Matt "I Kick Ass" Spry made me MD.

1. How did you become interested in radio?
My folks always encouraged me to be creative and I love rock music. The two fit together pretty well.
2. What part of your job do you like best? Least?
I love producing bits. Anything with Godzilla, my co-host (in a can) the King of Castle Rock, and lots of silly sound effects can keep me entertained for hours of production fun.
I hate when bands that I'm interviewing put on their sunglasses when the mic goes on. Then they proceed to flush away any personality they had before the interview. Jerks!
3. What is your biggest challenge at the station?
Chris the Ego, our night guy, always kicks my ass at Nerf basketball.
4. How has KFMA changed in the past year?
In the past year we've had a pretty significant staff change. Matt Spry still steers us along as PD, I gained my MD title, and we promoted a parttimer, Chris Firmage, to nights and Imaging Director. We as a team click on a comfortable level and thus our station sounds stronger than it has in several years. Combine that with a completely new promotions staff and we've been able to execute some awesome events and promotions!
5. What would surprise people most about KFMA?
It's run on ethanol.
6. What new bands are you most excited about?
I'm a fan of the Riverboat Gamblers - those guys are awesome.
7. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _________?
My crazy puppy, Chowder 5000.
8. Of all the things you've done at KFMA, what are you most proud of?
I converted our tower into a 40' statue of myself to inspire fear in all who approach.
9. Besides KFMA, what is your favorite radio station and why?
Star 97.5 in Phoenix because crazy Marc Young works there. Did you know he won a Tom Cruise look a like contest earlier this year?
10. What career path would you be following had it not been for this industry?
Aerodynamics engineer.
