Have an opinion? Add your comment below. My duties at Entercom vary day to day. I like to think of myself as Entercom Miami's chameleon. In a single day you can catch me scheduling music, helping our sister station with new automation, setting up contests for multiple stations, writing station blog posts, updating station's social media pages, producing and doing an on-air shift. These duties all go hand-in-hand with how I got my start at 104.3 The Shark

1. How did you first become interested in radio?
While attending Florida Gulf Coast University, they require you to take internships for credit. I choose a local radio station, B1039, because it sounded fun and they had a close relationship with FGCU. Within the first week of the internship, with their morning show "Big Mama And The Wild Bunch." I was hooked. I loved the intensity and passion for morning radio that filled that studio every day.
2. In addition to your duties at 104.3 The Shark, you are the token millennial as morning show producer on 102.7 The Beach. Explain your role at Entercom/Miami and how you got started at The Shark?
My duties at Entercom vary day to day. I like to think of myself as Entercom Miami's chameleon. In a single day you can catch me scheduling music, helping our sister station with new automation, setting up contests for multiple stations, writing station blog posts, updating station's social media pages, producing and doing an on-air shift. These duties all go hand-in-hand with how I got my start at 104.3 The Shark.
My first experience with The Shark was through a summer internship. When our PD, John O'Connell asked me at the time what I wanted out of the internship I said, "Everything". That's exactly what occurred. That internship led to a job with promotions helping set up and produce our first-ever Riptide Music Festival. That led me to keeping ties with John, which eventually led to my job at The Shark.
3. Tell us about your Sunday night specialty show, "On the Horizon" from 10p-mid?
"On The Horizon" is Shark's starting grounds for all music played on the station. Everything from unknown artists, alternative legends, and just straight up good music is found there. It's truly something I'm really passionate about. Making the playlist every week, I want to make sure there is a song for every listener to connect with. I think that emotional connection is the core of Alternative music and THAT's what "On The Horizon" is all about.
4. What is your process of putting together your weekly playlist and how long does it take?
The length of time it takes me to come up with the playlist varies from week to week. My process of coming up with "On The Horizon" that week consist of a blend of things: music research, feedback, music meetings and what our listeners are into.
5. How would you describe yourself on-air?
Conversational. I think of "On The Horizon" as if it were me in my living room hanging out with friends discussing new music.
6. What new artists are you most excited about?
Lizzo, The Greeting Committee, Morgxn, and Matt Maeson
7. What is your favorite part of your job?
I would say my favorite part of my job is getting to explore the music I love from a different perspective... and getting first dibs on new music from artists I love is cool too.
8. What do you love most about South Florida?
I could answer this so many ways: home, family, and friends. BUT by far my favorite thing about South Florida is that it is a giant melting pot of different cultures and walks of life. I'm grateful that I've experience so many cultures that widened my perspective of life, thanks to South Florida.
9. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _______?
I can't make it through the day without oversharing on my twitter and instagram accounts (@astoldbygaby)
10. What would surprise people most about you?
My music taste stretches across multiple genres. In fact on a recent cruise broadcast we did with sister stations from all different formats, I beat every one of my co-workers in a music trivia/ "guess that song" game! ...I won a towel.
