BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Xfm & MTV in U.K., K-Rock in New York, KDKB & KUPD in Phoenix, KVIL in Dallas.
1. How did you first become interested in radio?
I saw Tommy Vance host the BBC’s Friday Rock Show when I was eight years old. I decided there and then radio was what I wanted to do.
2. After four years at KDKB (ALT AZ 93.3)/Phoenix hosting AM Drive and middays, what led to your recent move to Dallas to host afternoons on ALT 103.7?
I’m America’s biggest fan, is there a more American city than Dallas? Plus, middays in market 14 verses afternoons in market 5, any questions?
3. How would you describe your on-air style?
Approachable, opinionated and engaging. With an accent.
4. What is your show prep routine?
Check feeds for pop culture, Dallas news and music info. I make notes in my phone for any lifestyle observations. Then build a show using the most relevant content for the day.
5. What do you love most about being on-air?
I get paid for having fun. Which seems a lot better than getting paid for doing a real job, with real work.
6. What makes your show unique?
I’m British! But I’m also very unlike a typical Brit. That’s why I don’t get along with my home country, but I love living in Texas.
7. How are you using social media to augment what you’re doing on-air?
To show when I’m out in DFW, seeing stuff that listeners may be entertained by. Posting articles with more detail on topics I’m covering on-air. Socials have made radio a visual medium. Listeners can read an article, or watch a video on socials, then call me to discuss on the radio. Be it the “leaning tower of Dallas” or our Unlikely Candidates session.
8. Who is your favorite on-air personality not on your staff and why do you like them?
John Holmberg. He invited me on to his KUPD morning show. We created a segment doing everything I couldn’t on KDKB. We won an award from Phoenix Magazine, it got the attention of Entercom in Dallas, and here I am!
9. What would surprise people most about you?
I’m scared of dogs.
10. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _________?
Coffee.
