1. How did you first become interested in radio?
I went to SUNY Fredonia for college, which is my uncle's alma mater. I originally was going for photography but he kept encouraging to join their college radio station. One day I sat in on a friend of mines show, and was instantly hooked. I declared my radio major the following morning.
2. How does it feel to be back in Buffalo working at a radio station you grew up listening to?
I truly believe there is no greater honor. I remember school mornings tuning in with my mom and always being curious what the buffalo talent had to say each morning. When I left Buffalo, i knew it was a great opportunity to work on my craft, but I will tell you, if I've learned anything it's that no one does it like Buffalo.
3. Tell us about your afternoon show from 3-7p on 103.3 The Edge.
Afternoons with me are a party! I try to engage as much as I can with listeners. I ask funny questions on Instagram and share some of the answers on-air. I am always talking about what songs I'm singing out loud in the studio, and you are bound to hear what band I'm currently obsessing over.
4. How would you describe your on-air style?
I think my on-air style would be considered fairly witty. I try to crack a joke every few breaks. I always want listening to me to feel like you are just hanging out with one of your closest friends.
5. What is your show prep routine?
I don't believe in going on the air without coffee in me. I spend about 2 hours a morning catching up on anything in the media I can. I also try to stay relevant in what is going on tik tok, Instagram, and what everyone in Buffalo is talking about. Over my weekends, I usually spend some time talking to friends about my bit topics or questions of the day to see what kind of spark they light with them.
6. What do you love most about being on-air?
There is no greater thrill then turning on that microphone. Music and pop culture has always been very important to me and being able to talk about it all for a living is the coolest thing in the world.
7. How are you using social media to augment what you're doing on-air?
On the Edge Instagram, each day I post "Lexi's question of the day." It's a fun way to spark a conversation with my listeners and also gives some fun on-air stories to tell.
8. Who is your favorite on-air personality not on your staff and why do you like them?
I'd have to say Zane Lowe from Apple One. His interviews are absolutely incredible. He never goes into any conversation without having a full understanding of an artist's work as a whole, and always allows his interviewees to have the floor without losing control of the direction of the interview.
9. What would surprise people most about you?
While I am totally into alternative music, and dress like I'm still going to warped tour every summer, I am the biggest geek when it comes to Disney World. It's always my vacation spot of choice, and I'm not proud of how many mickey mouses you can spot in my apartment.
10. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _________?
Calling my mom, a thousand times. Totally not kidding.
Bonus Questions
What are your favorite restaurants in Buffalo?
I am a pizza and wings girl through and through. Imperial Pizza does it for me. When I lived in Florida, it was always the first thing I needed when my feet touched the ground in Buffalo.
First concert?
NSYNC back in 2001
Favorite band of all-time?
My favorite band of all time is All Time Low. When I was in 7th grade, they played a college show at the University of Buffalo where my uncle worked, and he took me. I remember getting there super early and seeing Alex Gaskarth walk through the stadium and I immediately froze up. My aunt called him over to take a picture with me, and since that day I have seen the band live over 20 times. I light up anytime I get to play an All Time Low song on the Edge.
