FAVORITE BAND OF ALL-TIME:
It changes...Today I'll say The Smiths.
1. What's one thing that would surprise many people to learn about you?
I have a tail.
2. What are you most passionate about?
I'm pretty apathetic. I like to smoke. I voted.
3. What has been the biggest change at KRBZ from your first tenure in the PD chair two years ago?
People come and go in this business. It is a sad fact of life. The station has stayed pretty focused through some pretty big personnel changes.
4. What would an outsider find most surprising about the Kansas City radio market?
The Mormons think The Garden Of Eden is here.
5. What makes The Church Of Lazlo show unique?
It's smart radio for apathetic people who like to smoke and vote.
6. What is your favorite part of your afternoon show and why?
It truly is the place where everything goes away and I can be me. When I'm not on the air I'm like everyone else. I try to be polite. I bite my tongue. On the air I'm the real me. I say what I think and feel, for four hours a day I can really be myself. Most people never get that opportunity.
7. What do you find most amusing about your audience? Most annoying?
They are smart creative people who want to have a good time. They are also usually high so they sometimes stammer through their questions.
8. What is the one truth that has held constant throughout your career?
Be passionate and be honest. If you do that, things usually work out.
9. What was your favorite station to listen to when you were a kid?
I used to prank call Halloran on 99 DTX in Detroit. Every night I would call that guy and try to get on the air. Sorry Mike.
10. If you were to leave radio today and you could choose any other occupation, what would it be?
I'd love to be an A&R guy. If that is off the table than something that requires very little effort on my part. I don't have the best work ethic. Perhaps a pinch hitter for the Tigers?
Bonus Questions
What music do you enjoy listening to away from the station?
I have been knee deep in a Billy Bragg phase as of late. It hits me every couple of years.
