BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
WNTI Centenary College, Hackettstown, NJ (during High School), WWPV (The Mike)/Saint Michael's College, Burlington, VT on Thursday nights (2002-2006), WXXX (95 Triple X)/Burlington, VT mornings (2006-2009), and WMRQ (2009-Present).
1. How did you become interested in radio?
I was approached by the PD of WNTI because he noticed that I came to a lot of the station concerts. He liked my voice and my passion for music, so he put me on the air to do "fill-in" shifts. Then I did a Thursday night show at WWPV for four years of college. As college was coming to an end, I realized I needed a job. I liked radio and WXXX needed a "stunt guy" for their morning show. Radio seemed like fun and I had an interest in it for a long time.
2. What was your favorite station to listen to when you were a kid?
WXRK (92.3 K-Rock), WHTZ (Z100), WDHA (Jersey's own Rock Radio)/Morristown, NJ, WPST/Trenton-Philly, and WZZO/Bethlehem-Allentown, PA.
3. What's one thing that would surprise many people to learn about you?
I have a degree in Information Systems and I played trumpet in my high school marching band.
4. What part of your job do you like best? Least?
Best: Working for a great company and hearing great music all day.
Least: Waking up at the ass crack of dawn to do the morning show.
5. How would you describe the music and imaging on the station?
Respecting the past and helping to shape the future. Music has a big focus on the '90s alternative hits with large helping of new music. The imaging is very fast moving and to the point with a little bit of a CHR flavor to it. After working at a CHR that style of imaging rubs off on you.
6. What makes the station unique?
We are the only station in the market doing this kind of radio. We are locally owned and operated, so we can move quickly and think for ourselves.
7. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _________?
COFFEE!!!
8. What do you like best about living in Hartford?
I just moved here in September 2009. So far, I like the people here and I am happy to live in "civilization" again after living in Vermont for almost eight years!
9. What stands out the most from your first job in radio?
When I was the stunt guy at 95 Triple X, I was the victim of a "paint ball firing squad." Yes...It hurt A LOT!
10. If you decided to completely change careers today what would you do?
I would probably be an IT guy somewhere.
