The L.A-based artist Morgxn recently released his brand new song “Carry The Weight,” as well as a powerful accompanying music video. It is the latest track out from Morgxn’s also recently released debut album “Vital,” out via Wxnderlost Records/Hollywood. “Carry The Weight,” directed by Moses Moreno, paints a dramatic picture of Morgxn literally battling his own demons and obstacles. Armed with a sledgehammer, morgxn smashes the windshield of a car that follows him home, symbolizing the “weight” that many bear in their individual journeys. Leading up to the release of “Vital,” Morgxn partnered with Airbnb to host an official album release event, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Covenant House, an organization the musician is passionate about and actively involved with.
When asked about the song, Morgxn explains, “’Carry The Weight’ is my personal anthem. And it exists because I am constantly learning to stand up for myself and for my family and friends. The origins of this song are still a mystery to me but it found its lyric at the first Women’s March in New York,” he writes on Facebook. “I got to march in it with my mom, my brother and his wife. It was powerful to stand with everyone that day. But while walking to the march I got called a f***** by someone walking the other way. I brushed it off at the time because the day was so magnetic. But as time went on I realized that what has been so triggering for me is that I didn’t learn how to stand up for myself. From an early age there was this part of me I felt ashamed about. And even though we are existing in a time of Me Too and Time’s Up… where is the words for sensitive queer bxys who are just learning to stand up for themselves?”
Morgxn grew up in Nashville where despite being Jewish, his parents put him in several gospel choirs. After leaving TN, he went on to work in theater and musical theater in New York. “Love You With The Lights On” was Morgxn’s debut single in 2016. He has recently wrapped European tour dates supporting X- Ambassadors and is set to make festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Firefly, Cayuga and Laurelive this summer. He will also embark on a 22-date fall tour with labelmates DREAMERS beginning September 13th in San Diego.
