Matt And Kim

“Glad I Tried” is the newest song released by the duo, Matt And Kim. Isom Innis of Foster The People did the remix. The single can be found on their latest album, “Almost Everyday,” which was released earlier this summer on FADER Label. Joining Matt And Kim on the track are guest vocalists Santigold, Kevin Ray (Walk The Moon) and Travis Hawley (Night Riots) as they count it down about living your best life. The collection was written during Kim’s extensive recovery after an onstage injury in early 2017 sidelined the band. Matt And Kim used that time to create one of their most personal albums to date, with writing beginning just one month after Kim’s surgery. Co-produced by Lars Stalfors and Matt Johnson, “Almost Everyday” may be more introspective lyrically, but the sound is very Matt And Kim.
When asked about writing “Almost Everyday” in 2017, Matt explains, “2017 was not a great year for us. Kim got real depressed during her recovery, and anyone who knows Kim (or has seen her play) knows she’s such a bad-ass upbeat person so it was hard. Then of course almost everyday it seemed like there was another terrible headline. I feel since the beginning of music people have used writing songs as a form of therapy, but I’m not sure we ever really did…until 2017.”
Matt And Kim formed in Brooklyn, NY in 2004. They met while studying at Brooklyn's Pratt Institute. Kim Schifino studied illustration and graduated in 2002, while Matt Johnson studied film and graduated in 2004. The two began dating and moved in together after 3 months. After graduation, Johnson began learning to play keyboards and Schifino learned drums. Their early shows were primarily played at houses and lofts in the Brooklyn area, but they soon branched out and began touring all over. In 2005, they released an EP called “To and From,” which was the their first collection of music committed to an album of any kind. Since then, Matt And Kim have released 6 studio albums; “Matt And Kim” (2006), “Grand” (2009), “Sidewalks” (2010), “Lightning” (2012), “New Glow” (2015) and finally “Almost Everyday” (2018).
Known for their explosive live shows, Matt And Kim recently wrapped up their headlining tour, proving that a year off has done nothing to slow them down as they turn every venue into a sweaty, happy dance party with fans along for the ride. As part of their 2018 World Tour, Matt And Kim’s upcoming U.S. tour begins on August 17th in Colorado and wraps on September 22nd in New York.
