Arkells

“Relentless” is the newest track from the Canadian group, Arkells. It’s off their upcoming sixth full-length album, “Rally Cry,” due out on October 19th via Last Gang/eOne Entertainment.
The new single pays tribute to the passing of Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie. "We talked a lot about being in a band that day. We talked a lot about Gord, and how much Paul adored him. There was one anecdote that we all got a chuckle from," front man Max Kerman said in a statement. "He said that even when Gord was sick and was going through treatment, he'd say to Paul 'We made a record right, and we're gonna tour it right?' Mike [DeAngelis, Arkells guitarist] laughed and added 'Lead singers man, they never want to stop eh?' To which Paul responded: 'Ever since I knew him, he was relentless. Like a dog on a bone.' And that old expression hit me — there was our chorus."
Arkells was formed in Hamilton, Ontario in 2006. The group is currently made up of Max Kerman (vocals & guitar), Mike DeAngelis (vocals & guitar), Nick Dika (bass), Tim Oxford (drums & percussion) and Anthony Carone (vocals, keyboard & guitar). They have released four albums and two EPs. They have won multiple Juno Awards, including one for their album “High Noon” in 2015. Their most recent album, "Morning Report" included a 14-week #1 single in Canada, "Knocking At My Door."
“On our last album, we dipped our toes into the water, and learned that the boldest and most gratifying ideas were the ones where we took the biggest chances,” said Kerman. “That record emboldened us and gave us confidence to trust our instincts even more. On Rally Cry, we’ve risen to the challenge and we’re playing for keeps.”
Arkells continue to tour relentlessly with fall U.S. Tour dates following Austin City Limits on October 12th.
