“Never Go Back” is the latest single from the Israeli singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Dennis Lloyd. The track, out now via Arista Records, he says, was inspired by a recent visit to Bangkok. During the year that Lloyd spent in the Thai capital he met and fell in love with a Colombian woman and ended up creating 40 songs inspired by the relationship, and then "Never Go Back" once he returned to Israel and their relationship had ended. Sung in English and Spanish, "Never Go Back" begins as a stripped-back piece of songwriting, before the multi-instrumentalist gradually teases in more and more elements until the track's apex.
"'Never Go Back' is a direct continuation of the narrative of 'Nevermind'," Lloyd explains."'Nevermind' was written in Bangkok at the beginning of the relationship with my ex-girlfriend and 'Never Go Back' was written directly following our break up in Israel. Everything I write about is based off of real emotion and life experience. I hope listeners can connect in their own way. I wrote it after we broke up during a really lonely time when I felt depressed. If I don't feel anything, I don't write music. But I wrote and recorded this in 45 minutes. The song is a dialogue between her and me. It's part of a group of four songs that tells the whole story."
Lloyd first made waves with his 2015 single "Playa (Say That)," garnering the attention of music lovers which then led to his crossover hit "Nevermind" in 2016, generating over 200 million streams on Spotify, and Time Magazine naming one of their sings of the summer for 2018. He has also appeared on the popular Germany series Colors, performing his song "Leftovers," garnering over 22 million views.
Dennis Lloyd recently announced a new tour this year called "The Never Go Back Tour." It is scheduled to kick off April 7th in Vancouver, with headlining shows and festival sets across the glove. It will then proceed on to Seattle, Phoenix, Sydney, Brisbane, Denver, Chicago, and Atlanta. Lloyd will also play festival sets at Coachella, Governors Ball, Firefly, and Openair in St. Gallen, which also serves as the closing date for his tour.
