Sleater-Kinney

“Can I Go On” is the official first single released from Sleater-Kinney. It will be on their forthcoming album, “The Center Won’t Hold” set for release on August 16th via new label Mom + Pop Records. They have previously released “Hurry On Home,” “The Future is Here,” and the title track from this new collection.
When asked about “Can I Go On,” in a press release, Sleater-Kinney band-member Carrie Brownstein explains, “In this song, a woman’s desire is used against her, so she turns it into a sinister infectiousness. The narrator finds herself on the brink of self-annihilation, grappling with the paradox of an internal darkness at odds with the pressure to outwardly perform modes of joy, relatability, and likability.”
Sleater-Kinney was formed in Olympia, Washington, in 1994. The band's current lineup features Corin Tucker (vocals and guitar) and Carrie Brownstein (guitar and vocals) following the departure of longtime member Janet Weiss (vocals, drums, and harmonica) earlier this year. They have released seven studio albums between 1994 and 2005: “Sleater-Kinney” (1995), “Call the Doctor” (1996), “Dig Me Out” (1997), “The Hot Rock” (1999), “All Hands on the Bad One” (2000), “One Beat” (2002) and “The Woods” (2005). They went on hiatus in 2006 and devoted themselves to solo projects. They reunited in 2014 and released “No Cities To Love” in 2015 and “Live In Paris” in 2017.
Sleater-Kinney is set to embark on a busy North American tour in the fall in support of “The Center Won’t Hold.”
