Colony House

“Original Material” is the latest song from the Nashville quartet, Colony House. They recently released a music video for the track and it was directed by Caleb Chapman of the band and Jon Steingard. The video set out to be a parody of themselves as a group trying too hard to be "original" only to realize it's just not working out. The track is off the band's brand new third studio album “Leave What's Lost Behind” which is out new via Roon Records.
When creating the video, Chapman explains, “The parody quickly became a little more real than we anticipated. We spent a ton of time making these ridiculous cardboard and duct tape heads, choreographed a subpar dance routine, drove across the country to the Californian desert with our van and trailer... in AUGUST, filmed in 100º plus weather while wearing said ‘cardboard and duct tape heads,’ and maybe got kicked out of a small town or two... all to make a video about trying too hard. In hindsight I think the joke might have been on us the whole time.”
Colony House is currently made up of brothers Caleb Chapman (vocals) and Will Chapman (drums), guitarist Scott Mills and bassist Parke Cottrell. In 2014, they put out their debut full-length album, “When I Was Younger” with it’s lead single “Silhouettes” becoming a hit. In between constant touring and performances on Late Night with Seth Meyers, CONAN, and Today, this solid touring without recording, the musicians found themselves at a crossroads in 2018. They transitioned out of the major label system and went back to the beginning, to their roots.
They just embarked on the Leave What's Lost Behind Headline Tour, hitting up major cities across the U.S. with special guest Tyson Motsenbocker.
