Sir Chloe

"Michelle" is the lead single from Bennington, Vermont's Sir Chloe out now on Atlantic. Chloe is the name lead singer/guitarist Dana Foote’s mother almost gave her when she was born. It’s also the name of an irreverent character in her favorite TV show, Don’t Trust The Bitch In Apartment 23, and the name she used to give strangers at bars when she wanted to invent new histories for herself on nights out. Its omnipresence in her life led to the genesis of Sir Chloe, the band she formed during her senior year at Bennington College in Vermont when she opted to put on a concert in lieu of a thesis. She rounded up guitarist and producer Teddy O’Mara, her brother Palmer Foote on drums, and bassist Austin Holmes. Together, they began to develop a sound as much inspired by Bikini Kill as Stravinsky.
In February 2019, Sir Chloe released their first song, "Animal" placing the band immediately in a lineage of feminist rock bands like Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, and Bratmobile. Dana sings, “I’m asking nicely: give me what I want/ I’ll ask politely: give me what I want. "Animal" and "Michelle" were released on Sir Chloe's debut EP, PARTY FAVORS, released by Terrible Records in October 2020.
Dana taught herself guitar basics using Mel Bay books. She later took up piano, the mandolin, the accordion, and the harmonium as music began to take an ever more central place in her life. At Bennington College, Dana studied orchestration and composition after pivoting from psychology and visual art. Sir Chloe is now based in Brooklyn, New York.
