beabadoobee is back with her new single "Last Day On Earth" via Dirty Hit. It will be on her forthcoming new EP, Our Extended Play, out this summer. The song was written and produced with Matty Healey and George Danielof The 1975. They spent the early lockdown collaborating with beabadoobee and her band in the Oxfordshire Countryside on a diverse collection of new songs.
beabadoobee said, "'Last Day On Earth' is about all the things I would have done had I known we were going into a lockdown and the world was going to change the way it has. It was written shortly after the first main lockdown and lyrically it’s me reflecting on how it would feel if we all knew ahead of time what was going to happen. All the things I would have done if I knew it was the last day of our old normality. I wrote and recorded the EP on a farm with Matty and George from The 1975 in the countryside. It was really nice being able to create together, my first time writing and recording in that kind of setting. I wanted to experiment on the sounds and sonics even more and the EP to me has a feeling of togetherness to it... how we’re all in this joined as one."
In 2020, beabadoobee released her debut album, Fake It Flowers, featuring the single, "Care." Beatrice Laus better known as beabadoobee is a Filipino-born British musician. Since 2018, she has released five EPs and has supported The 1975 during several legs of their Music For Cars Tour. She was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Brit Awards and was predicted as a breakthrough act for 2020 in an annual BBC poll of music critics, Sound of 2020. A sample of beabadoobee's 2017 debut single "Coffee" was used on Canadian rapper Powfu's 2019 single, "Death Bed (Coffee For Your Head)." The song became a successful hit after going viral on the app TikTok in early 2020, becoming beabadoobee's first chart entry in her career, both locally and internationally.
