Foster The People
Jan 31, 2011
Los Angeles based trio, Foster the People, released their first EP January 18th (Columbia) on StarTime International. The self-titled release features the bands noteworthy tune, 'Pumped Up Kicks,' which is kicking up the Alternative chart quickly, and two new, equally infectious, tracks: "Helena Beat " and " Houdini. "
The band first caught the attention of fans early last year when they self-released their track 'Pumped Up Kicks' on their website for friends to share. One fan passed along to another and soon enough it ended up in the hands of editors at NME, Blackbook, Nylon, the Guardian, virally spreading not only across town but across seas. A few spins later, by Sirius' Alt Nation and KCRW and the "outrageously catchy melody," as the Guardian calls it, made it's way to becoming the track of the summer.
"Like Empire of the Sun or Phoenix after a summer in California and a few hours in the freezer, Foster the People play chilled-out dance floor-ready indie-pop with enough chops to keep the group from being a season's guilty pleasure," explains the L.A. Times in a recent feature on the band.
Foster the People is Mark Foster, Cubby Fink and Mark Pontius. The band is currently finishing their full-length debut now.
