Bright Eyes
Feb 7, 2011
Nebraskan indie-rock outfit Bright Eyes has added more performances to its first extensive U.S. tour in three years as the band anticipates the impending drop of a brand-new album.
The Conor Oberst-led group will first head across the pond for a handful of European gigs before returning to the States to kick off the tour with a March 2nd concert in Miami Beach. The North American outing canvases the nation, stopping in auditoriums, clubs and theaters in major markets. Label mates Cursive and Mynabirds will divvy up opening support on the tour.
Bright Eyes' seventh studio set, "The People's Key," is due February 15th on Oberst's own Saddle Creek Records. The release falls on the frontman's 31st birthday. The band consists of: Oberst, Mike Mogis, and Nathaniel Walcott.
"With Bright Eyes, we've always experimented and tried to make a different record every time out," said Oberst of the new album. I'm feeling burnt out on the Americana, roots-y sound. I just wanted to make something different, something modern but something that still had warmth."
Oberst has kept busy since the band's 2007 effort, "Cassadaga." The singer/songwriter released two albums, 2008's "Conor Oberst" and 2009's "Outer South" with his Mystic Valley Band, as well as a critically acclaimed eponymous effort with supergroup Monsters of Folk in 2009.
The single, "Shell Games" is at Alternative radio now.
