Drive A
Mar 7, 2011
Drive A comes roaring into 2011 with their brand new album, 'The World in Shambles', out on Dead Conflict Records and a support slot on the House of Blues Revolt Tour 2011 with Hollywood Undead, 10 Years and New Medicine. The tour kicks off April 6th in Boston and runs through May 27th, covering the United States.
"We are excited to be a part of the inaugural run of the Revolt! Tour," says frontman Bruno Mascolo. "We look forward to sharing the stage with Hollywood Undead, 10 Years, and New Medicine. It's going to be a great tour." Drive A are celebrating the tour and new album by offering a free download of "Revolt!" from 'The World In Shambles'.
Drive A aren't so much as a band as they are a movement, a movement that waves the flag for a new generation of youth that is more interested in doing than saying. The California quartet, whose singer Bruno Mascolo and guitarist Jason Nott met in 2006 before recruiting drummer Cody Root, play inflammatory and incendiary rock 'n' roll that's high energy and intense.
The World in Shambles, is their second release, and this is the album that will truly introduce the band to more of the music buying public. The band freely admits that their singular mission upon entering the studio was to craft an album that bottled their firecracker live energy and prowess.
"We wanted to make something that was raw and what sounded like our band when we played live," Mascolo said. "We are a live band. We care about songwriting, but we're a live band. We recorded completely live and there were no click tracks, so what you hear is what we sound like. It was about capturing the energy and not trying to achieve perfection."
The World in Shambles, which follows up Drive A's 2009 debut, Loss of Desire, was recorded in two different locations in Hollywood. "There is a positive message at the end of every song," he admitted. "It's a therapeutic type of thing and every person who listens to it can relate to that. If you always write something negative, eventually, that becomes corny and it will lose its meaning."
"Let's Have a Wreck", which impacts Alternative on March 8th, is another personal song that lays its cards face up on the table. Mascolo revealed that the song is about "having an addiction to destroying situations or relationships".
Drive A are the total package and that's what captures the attention of those whose paths the band crosses. Strong songs, an arresting image and an off-the-charts live show make Drive A the band to check out in 2011 and beyond. Drive A wraps up tour dates with Escape The Fate on March 12th in San Diego and then heads to Austin for a SXSW gig on March 17th at Emos.
