Brother
Apr 11, 2011

Hailing from Slough, UK, A&M/Octone Recording artist Brother released their first single, "Darling Buds Of May," digitally in January. The single is now at Alternative radio. With the obvious '90s "Britpop" influence in both sound and image, "Darling Buds Of May" proves to be favourable introduction to the band.
Brother has taken England by storm. NME declares, "They're mashing the best of Britpop and beyond into monumental mounds of melody and might." BBC Radio One raves, "A great British band, a British hope for 2011."
With respect to the media hype, frontman Lee Newell said, "It's something we always expected. We don't doubt ourselves. You have to have an air of arrogance. You have to believe it."
"Brother is full of the attitude and swagger that reminds you of the great British bands that have conquered America," said David Boxenbaum, General Manager of A&M/Octone Records, "with the songs to back it up."
We figured we'd start a band and put America back on the map, so we came and played here," Newell said.
Brother will release an EP titled, "Fly By Nights" April 19th on iTunes. The four lads are scheduled to release their Stephen Street (Blur, Morrissey) produced debut album this July.
The band, which also includes Sam Jackson on guitar, Josh Ward on bass and Frank Colucci on drums, is as sharp as its songs are direct.
Brother are currently on a UK tour, but have a few U.S. west coast shows at the end of April:
- 4/22 -- Fresno - Fulton 55
- 4/26 -- Los Angeles - Satellite
- 4/28 -- San Francisco - Rickshaw
