White Denim
May 30, 2011
Hot off the heels of their 6 blazing SXSW shows and being named the Best Rock Band at SXSW for the 4th consecutive year by Gorilla Vs Bear, White Denim will be bringing a sampling of new sounds from their Downtown Records album, D, released May 24th to cities across the country as they launch the "For D" tour. The band will start their journey on the west coast and wind their way across the mountains and plains before heading out east.
Merging from Texas, White Denim specialize in sun-friend psychedelia. Mixing a straight ahead punk approach with a mind-expanding sensibility, the band are never content to sit in one place.
"The album was actually made in a private studio owned by a vintage gear collector. It was all one room, so we could shout at each other in the middle of takes. As usual," explained singer James Petralli.
Remaining true to their psychedelic roots, 'D' nonetheless rampages through numerous new influences. Veering between Afro-Cuban rhythms and twisted, Beefheart blues White Denim have rarely sounded so confident.
The band released the appropriately titled 'Fits' back in 2009. A stunning album, it became the band's calling card, gaining critical acclaim.
The first single, "Drug" is at Alternative radio now.
