Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Aug 29, 2011
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is an indie rock group based in Brooklyn, NY and Philadelphia. Their debut album, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, was self-released in 2005. Shortly after the release of their first album, they received attention from numerous MP3 blogs and a favorable review from Pitchfork Media, who gave the band a "Best New Music" commendation. The ensuing demand for the album was so great that the band was forced to repress the CD, as the initial production run was too small. They garnered even more press after David Bowie and David Byrne were spotted at some of the band's shows in 2005.
The band released their second album, Some Loud Thunder on January 30, 2007, in the US and followed it up with Live at Lollapalooza 2007: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah released on iTunes in September.
After a brief break, almost four years, the band announced in May 2011 that their third album, Hysterical, is set to be released on September 20th. The album's first single, "Same Mistake" comes in that shifted spirit, with strings and singer Alec Ounsworth delivering a vocal as tuneful, forlorn, and poppy. The track is available for download on their site and impacting Alternative radio now. The band is currently touring Europe and begins a US tour on September 17th in support of the album.
