Walk The Moon
Mar 19, 2012
As an indie-rock band based out of Cincinnati, OH, Walk the Moon had a busy Summer last year and continues in this fashion with a jam-packed tour schedule this coming Spring. After signing with Mick Management in February 2011, they quickly got into the studio over the Summer with producer/mixer/songwriter Ben Allen.
The current members of Walk the Moon are Nicholas Petricca, Kevin Ray, Sean Waugaman, and Eli Maiman. Petricca started the band three years ago, and at first it was just a revolving door of musicians until the band's lineup solidified a year ago when Maiman finally joined the group as a guitarist. Back in 2010, the group dropped their poppy first record, the self-released i want! i want! to critical acclaim. The success of the record led to them signing with major label RCA Records, and then they took off from there. They received immense airplay for the track "Anna Sun" on several hit radio stations and the song went on to be named the song of the summer in a 2011 Esquire article "30 Summer Songs Every Man Should Listen To". SPIN Magazine has described them as a "poppy, art-rock quartet". They were deemed a Nylon Magazine Band Crush for their "swirly pop beats, infectious guitar riffs, and loud, sing-a-long choruses." Something that sets Walk the Moon apart from other bands is that they paint their faces for live performances and always bring enough to share with the audience.
This Spring, Walk the Moon will tour with Young the Giant, the Kaiser Chiefs, and play at the Sasquatch Music Festival.
