Jan 14, 2013

The Airborne Toxic Event have finished recording their third album, due out sometime in the spring of 2013. The indie rock band from Los Angeles -- Mikel Jollett (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Chen (guitar, keyboards), Noah Harmon (electric bass, upright bass, backing vocals), Daren Taylor (drums) and Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboards, tambourine, backing vocals) -- recorded in Nashville alongside producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse).
"We're very excited to announce that the new album is done and will be released in the spring," the group posted at their website. "It's been strange being away. We've missed that feeling of jumping off an amp, narrowly avoiding a puddle of beer, and then realizing as we hit the ground that we are not in fact in Detroit, but Minneapolis."
This album follows the 2011 release of their acclaimed sophomore album All At Once, which was called "a crushing classic" by BBC and "the rock'n'roll equivalent of a tear-soaked novella" by SPIN.
Named after a section of the book White Noise, by Don DeLillo, the group is known for its blend of rock music and orchestral arrangements. The group has also played concerts with the Louisville Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
The Airborne Toxic Event have earned their reputation as an aggressive touring act over the years. The band played more than 350 dates in support of their acclaimed 2008 self-titled debut album. In addition to their rigorous touring schedule, the band have performed on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, The Late Show With David Letterman, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Last Call With Carson Daly.
The first single "Timeless" impacts Alternative at the end of January with a Spring tour beginning March 30th in San Diego.
