Robert DeLong
Jan 20, 2013

The genre-melding electronic musician, Robert DeLong, is about to release his debut album, Just Movement due out February 5th via Glassnote Records. It's an electronic dance album with an evocative singer-songwriter sensibility that he wrote and produced over the course of the last two years. Leading the album is the single, "Global Concepts". The song involves plenty of drums, sample pads and some video game paraphernalia.
Raised in the suburbs of Seattle, DeLong headed to Los Angeles with a toolbox of Wii-motes, keyboards, and drums back in 2010. Typically he uses MIDI interfaces, a full drum set, drum pads, keyboards, laptops and game controllers, looping his music live to fuse electronic dance beats with striking melodies and lyrics with emotional heart. As he started playing more and more shows, he immediately caught the attention of critics and fans alike. DeLong has received radio play from influential stations such as KCRW and KROQ, where DeLong's track "Happy" (also to be featured on his album, Just Movement) peaked at #4 on the latter's Local's Only show.
DeLong was first discovered by WEQX/Albany in June 2012 and "Global Concepts" has been the most reactive song at the station in years. He was named as one of MTV's 2013 Artists To Watch.
DeLong's ability to seamlessly blur boundaries while working around a core EDM template could blow his potential audience wide open which is something that he hopes to test out with the release of his debut album.
