The Parlotones
Jan 20, 2013

Fresh off the plane from South Africa, rockers The Parlotones have just recently claimed Los Angeles their new home and will soon begin working on their new album.
"Our next stop is the Grammys, to perform at Sunset Sessions in San Francisco, VH1's Save The Music and a 30-city tour of the US kicking off in March," said frontman, Kahn Morbee.
"Shake it Up" will be the first single from The Parlotones' forthcoming EP via their own Sovereign Entertainment label. The EP will be out on February 12th with band's fifth album due this summer.
In South Africa, The Parlotones -- lead singer Kahn Morbee, guitarist Paul Hodgson, bassist Glen Hodgson, and drummer Neil Pauw -- are considered to be one of the biggest rock bands around. In the past, the quartet have headlined the 20,000-seater Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg in 2009, performed at the World Cup Kickoff Concert to an audience of a billion in 2010, and were handpicked by Coldplay to open their stadium shows in South Africa in 2011.
On top of all that, last year, The Parlotones staged an original rock theater production, Dragonflies And Astronauts, which was broadcast live around the world in 3D via DIRECTV and in 2D on Facebook. Dragonflies And Astronauts wove a narrative through the band's catalog, including 16 songs that were Top 40 hits in South Africa. The Parlotones' three studio albums -2005's Radiocontrolledrobot, 2007's A World Next Door To Yours, and 2009's Stardust Galaxies, have racked up numerous platinum and gold certifications and South African Music Awards, while their three live CD/DVD packages cemented their reputation as a fiery force to be reckoned with onstage.
There is no doubt that with their experimentation of sound and various structures in their songs, The Parlotones will be able to have new success in the U.S as well. First up in the US is performing at alternative radio station 91X's Next Big Things show in San Diego on Jan 31st.
