The French pop-rock band, Phoenix will be releasing their fifth album, entitled Bankrupt! on April 22nd via Loyaute/Glassnote Records. This follow up to the acclaimed spectacle of 2009's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix finds a place on a lot of "Most Anticipated Albums of 2013" lists pined over by music critics. Bankrupt! was co-produced by the band, Thomas Mars (vocals), Laurent Brancowitz (guitar), Christian Mazzalai (guitar), and Deck D'Arcy (bass) and producer Philippe Zdar.
Two years after vocalist Thomas, Deck, and Christian started playing together as a "garage band" based out of Thomas' house in Paris, the band took on the name Phoenix and pressed 500 copies of a single on their own label, Ghettoblaster. Shortly after, they were signed to the Paris-based Source Records and then finally to their current label Loyaute and US counterpart, Glassnote Records.
Prior to their iconic album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, they released United in 2000, Alphabetical in 2004, Live!Thirty Days Ago in 2005, It's Never Been Like That in 2006, Kitsune Tabloid in 2009 and finally Wofgang Amadeus Phoenix in 2009 which ultimately gained them worldwide fame. This album won the band the Grammy for Best Alternative Album and has since been certified Gold.
Phoenix will play various major music festivals across the world in support of the new album. Announced dates include headlining spots at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Primavera Sound. They will also play huge European festivals such as Rock Werchter and Rock am Ring and Rock im Park.
