Walk Off The Earth
Mar 24, 2013

Canadian indie band, Walk Off The Earth, released their debut full length album, R.E.V.O. (an acronym for the band's motto, "Realize Every Victory Outright") on March 19th via Columbia Records. The video for the lead single, "Red Hands," has already surpassed three million views on YouTube.
Lead singer, Gianni Luminati stated that "'Red Hands' is pretty open to interpretation and will mean different things to different people. When we originally wrote the song, we were thinking about taking responsibility for your actions and standing up on your own when things go wrong ... rather than blaming other people around you. Sometimes you just have to accept the circumstances that are thrown your way without pointing the finger."
Formed in 2006 in Burlington, Ontario, Walk off the Earth have gained success around the world by making low-budget music videos of covers and originals found on YouTube. The video of the band's cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" became rapidly popular on YouTube in early 2012, gathering over 127 million views in four months and received positive responses from both Gotye and his co-singer on the song, Kimbra. The song is also included on the band's debut album.
The members of the band include Gianni Luminati (guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo, kazoo, drums, vocals, theremin, beatbox, xylophone, cigar box guitar, piano, cajon), Sarah Blackwood (guitar, bass, kazoo, ukulele, banjo, glockenspiel, cigar box guitar, xylophone, piano, vocals), Ryan Marshall (guitar, bass, trumpet, piano, harmonica, vocals), Mike "Beard Guy and Eric Cantona" Taylor (piano, vocals, xylophone, trumpet) and Joel Cassady (drums, cigar box guitar).
Walk off the Earth is know for making use of uncommon instruments such as the ukulele and the theremin, as well as looping samples. The band's recorded music and videos are produced by member and multi-instrumentalist Gianni Luminati Nicassio.
Walk Off The Earth have brought their energetic live show around the world, including a well received set at this summer's Lollapalooza and sold out headlining shows in cities from NYC and LA to Toronto, Tokyo, Singapore, London and Paris.
