Multi-platinum Alternative Rock band, Filter, will be making their Wind-Up Records debut with the release of their sixth studio album, The Sun Comes Out Tonight on June 4th. The first single "What Do You Say" was serviced to Alternative and Rock radio stations on April 2nd. Recorded in Los Angeles, at Blue Room Studios with producer Bob Marletter, The Sun Comes Out Tonight follows 2010's The Trouble with Angels. The band's decorated history also includes such platinum and gold recordings as Short Bus (1995), Title of Record (1999), The Amalgamut (2002) and Anthems for the Damned (2008).
Formed in 1993, Filter has enjoyed significant success over the past two decades. The band released their critically acclaimed first album Short Bus in 1995, a disc Rolling Stone praised as "a timely combination of grunge heat and industrial ice." Fueled by the top 10 hit "Hey Man Nice Shot," the album rocketed to # 3 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and went on to sell more than a million copies.
They raised the bar with 1999's Title of Record which featured the top 10 Rock hit "Welcome To The Fold" along with a blockbuster crossover smash "Take A Picture. The years that followed saw the band releasing three more albums - 2002's the Amalgamut, 2008's Anthems For The Damned and 2010's The Trouble with Angels, while touring the world and amassing a huge international fan base whose members number in the millions. Filter has also contributed songs to several blockbuster soundtracks, including 2012, Judgment Night, Spawn (the Crystal Method collaboration "(Can't You) Trip Like I Do"), Little Nicky, Demon Knight, Stepfather, Anger Management, Crow 2, Girl Next Door, Cable Guy and many more.
Filter will be joining Everclear, Live and Sponge this summer on the Summerland Tour. It hits 30 U.S. cities starting May 29th in Ft. Myers, FL and wraps up July 28th in Kansas City.
"Last year's Summerland was a blast," Everclear frontman Art Alexakis said in a statement. "This year, we've brought a decidedly edgier flavor bill to satisfy all of the fans of Nineties rock & roll out there. It's going to be an amazing summer night every night on Summerland 2013: Alternative Guitars."
