FIDLAR
Apr 14, 2013

The L.A. alternative punk band FIDLAR, released their self-titled debut album via Mom + Pop back on January 22nd, featuring songs "Stoked And Broke", "Cheap Beer", "Wake Bake Skate" and the lead single, "Max Can't Surf." It's essentially a catchy loud and brash ode to slackerdom. What FIDLAR lacks in subtlety, it more than accounts for with blistering surf intensity and wicked hooks, creating a raucous party soundtrack that sticks with you well after the contact high fades.
Since forming in 2010, FIDLAR (made up of guitarist/frontman Zac Carper, guitarist Elvis Kuehn, bassist Brandon Schwartzel, and drummer Max Kuehn) has been stirring up all sorts of attention, thanks to a potent combination of unapologetic garage, pop, and punk rock. They have released two official EPs - DIYDUI (Called FIDLAR - EP on iTunes) in 2011, and Don't Try in 2012, the first on White Iris and the second on Mom+Pop. DIYDUI, Don't Try and pre-album compilation EP Shit We Recorded in Our Bedroom rereleased tracks from previous demo EPs Fuck It Dog, Forget it Dad, Life's a Risk and Life's All Right.
Influenced by So-Cal punk rockers as well as older bands from the area, which they learned about from their dad's record collection; he was the guitarist of T.S.O.L. -- Max Kuehn and his brother Elvis were playing punk shows by their teens. By the time they were out of high school, Zac Carper and Brandon Schwartzel joined up. Later FIDLAR went the D.I.Y. route and started a home-spun label to record material, while embracing the reaches of the internet and making several videos to promote their music.
FIDLAR have had a busy past few months touring the U.S. with Wavves and they will go on to Europe this summer.
