Denver's Churchill released third EP, The War Within via A&M Octone Records on April 23rd. It was produced by Grammy award winner Brendan O'Brien and Joe Richmond from Churchill. The EP features the band's current hit song "Change," the brand new single "The War Within" and two more new tracks.
"The War Within" was written in a Austin hotel pool room "and was one of the last songs we wrote for the record," says lead guitarist, Tim Bruns. "It's a song about hope and knowing that when you are in a dark time, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. We were instantly excited to play 'The War Within'."
This EP comes one year after the release of the bands critically acclaimed Change EP that fans interestingly described as having a 'kaleidoscopic sound'. The War Within is also the second helping of new Churchill material since 2011's Happy/Sad and serves as a small dose of what fans can expect later this summer when the band will release a yet to be titled full-length studio album.
Churchill members Tim Bruns (guitar/vox) and Mike Morter (mandolin/ guitar) deliver the freewheeling alt-country vibe; Tyler Rima (bass) and Joe Richmond (drums) inject some rock attitude; and Bethany Kelly (piano/vox) adds sophisticated classical flourishes.
