Franz Ferdinand
Jul 15, 2013
Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand's much-anticipated new album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action is due out on August 27th via Domino Records. Lead single, "Right Action" builds on the group's catalog of catchy, snappy dance-rock. Perhaps most notable is the video itself, a fun combination of '60s pop-music imagery animated in the same kinetic style, and by the same director, as the video for their breakout 2005 hit, "Take Me Out."
Formed in 2002, Franz Ferdinand is composed of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals and guitar), Bob Hardy (bass guitar), Nick McCarthy (rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals), and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion and backing vocals). The band first experienced chart success when their second single, "Take Me Out", reached No. 3 in the UK Charts, followed by their debut album, Franz Ferdinand, which debuted on the UK album chart at No. 3. The band went on to win the 2004 Mercury Music Prize, and two BRIT Awards in 2005 for Best British Group and Best British Rock Act. In 2005, the band's second album, You Could Have It So Much Better was a platinum-selling album in the United Kingdom and gold-selling in the United States. The album produced the hit single "Do You Want To". Their third album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand was released internationally in January 2009, and made the top ten in the United Kingdom and the United States. "Ulysses" was released as the lead single. With their three studio albums, the band has sold over three million albums worldwide.
In addition to this year's Austin City Limits Festival, Fran Ferdinand will be making stops at Chicago's Vic Theatre on October 10th, Boston's Orpheum Theatre on October 20th and at the Hammerstein Ballroom on October 22nd in New York City and much more. Coinciding with the release of Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, the band will also embark on a world tour this fall. They will be touring Europe, Canada and then end up in Japan in November.
