Brandon Boyd (Sons of the Sea)

Incubus front man Brandon Boyd has a new partner in his musical pursuits while his band is taking a break. He has paired up with go-to rock producer Brendan O'Brien for the new project, Sons Of The Sea. "Come Together" is their latest bouncy and infectious single. It can be found on their self-titled debut album due out on September 24th via Avow/INgrooves. "Come Together" is also one of four songs released on Boyd's Compass EP, released on June 25th.
Boyd, who has worked with O'Brien on Incubus records in the past, took that relationship further as he penned lyrics and sang while O'Brien performed most of the music. The singer says, "[We were] two artists who had worked together before, but now in a completely different context. Every song we worked on was different from the next one. It was a process of continual discovery."
Boyd says that while the track is basically "about sex," the song's lyrics were inspired by a famous scene in a popular film from 1982. "I had a strong visual reference for how I wanted the song to sound," he tells Fuse. "The scene in the movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High where Phoebe Cates comes out of the pool in slow motion, water spraying everywhere, and she undoes her bikini top to show the world the glory."
