AFI

Alternative band, AFI have debuted the first official single from their new forthcoming album, Burials via Republic Records, entitled "17 Crimes". The album will be released on October 22nd. "17 Crimes" is an infectiously catchy track where the band vocalist, Davey Havok belts out one of their most memorable choruses with "Let's love and kill like 17 now." Even though killing like a teenager shouldn't be taken in a literal sense, one has to wonder if AFI is continuing the dark mood from the earlier fan song, "I Hope You Suffer" onto this single. Either way, with two solid singles under their belt, AFI should easily craft a successful follow up to their 2009 effort Crash Love.
Originally from Ukiah, California and formed in 1991, AFI have consisted of the same lineup since 1998. The members include lead vocalist Davey Havok, drummer and backup vocalist Adam Carson, bassist Hunter Burgan and guitarist Jade Puget, who both play keyboard and contribute backup vocals. Of the current lineup, Havok and Carson are the two remaining original members. During AFI's 20 years as a band, they have released eight studio albums, 10 EPs, one live album and one DVD.
It was not until the release of the band's fifth album The Art of Drowning that they achieved measurable commercial success. The band enjoyed its first major commercial success 12 years after it formed, in 2003, with Sing The Sorrow reaching top 5 on the Billboard 200, and remaining on the chart for 51 weeks. The album featured top 10 singles "Girl's Not Grey" and "Silver And Cold." Other hit singles from AFI include: "Love Like Winter" in 2006 and "Medicate" in 2009.
AFI has been hailed by numerous publications for contributing to the modern melodic hardcore and post-hardcore genres and revolutionizing goth-punk; in 2006 MTV executive Amy Doyle called the band "one of the most compelling live rock bands today."
In support of Burials, AFI is hitting the road with North American dates into November.
