The Fratellis
Sep 22, 2013

After five years on hiatus, Scottish rockers, The Fratellis have returned with their third full-length album We Need Medicine, slated for release on October 8th through BMG. An 11-track record of bluesy rock anthems, We Need Medicine was recorded in Glasgow's West End and produced by Jon Fratelli and Stuart McCredie, who also mixed the record.
The album is packed with The Fratellis' signature blend of high guitar energy, bluesy rock hooks and rousing vocals. Lead single, "Seven Nights Seven Days" is an anthem perfect for cranking up the volume knob. There is a rousing classic Fratellis chorus backed by country guitars, while the title track is a gravelly, piano-led blues song that you can't help but sing along to and is sure to be a live favorite.
The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Jon Fratelli (born John Lawler), bass guitarist Barry Fratelli (born Barry Wallace), and drummer and backing vocalist Mince Fratelli (born Gordon McRory). They have released two albums, Costello Music in 2006 and Here We Stand in 2008 with a third being lined-up for release in 2013. The Fratellis' debut album sold over 1 million copies worldwide and their hit single "Chelsea Dagger"was on Rolling Stone's List of Top 100 Songs for 2007. The band was known for the energetic live shows, touring with a 3-piece horn section during 2007 and then adding Will Foster on guitar/keys during 2008/2009. They entered indefinite hiatus in July 2009, spending time on various side projects before reuniting in June 2012.
After performing for a sold out UK tour earlier this year and performing to a huge crowd at this year's T in the Park Festival, The Fratellis begin a national US tour on November 1st.
