Sleigh Bells

New York duo, Sleigh Bells, have announced the release of their third LP, Bitter Rivals, due out on October 8th via Mom + Pop Records. The video for the song starts off innocently enough, some simple guitar, shoulder shaking, snapping and cooing from singer Alexis Krauss and then it launches into the raucous, shredding rock the group is known for. Guitarist Derek Miller rocks out in an LSU jersey while Krauss showcases her boxing skills in a leopard print silk robe while instructing listeners to "be not afraid." The video shifts during the songs chorus, as Krauss' tough girl antics are replaced with softer notes as she declares "You are my bitter rival, but I need you for survival."
Sleigh Bells describe Bitter Rivals as their most collaborative album yet. "We decided everything together on this record," Miller says. For each song, he recorded an instrumental track and wrote lyrics, then left the vocal melodies up to Krauss. "It never ceased to be an incredibly anxiety-producing process," she says. "I would fully arrange [my vocals] and harmonize everything, and I'd be like, 'He's gonna fucking hate it.'" Miller laughs: "And then I'd call her and be like, 'This is brilliant!'"
Bitter Rivals is the follow-up to 2012's Reign of Terror, which landed the duo a high-profile performance on Saturday Night Live and peaked at # 12 on the Billboard 200.
Sleigh Bells' fall tour kicks off on October 4th in Pittsburgh with Danny Brown and Doldrums supporting.
