Sleeper Agent
Jan 12, 2014

Sleeper Agent is back with a new single, the buoyant "Waves," which comes from their forthcoming album entitled, About Last Night. The band's second album is due in early 2014 via Mom + Pop/RCA Music Group. A rhythmic undercurrent propels this hook-injected song, which is the Kentucky group's first new number since its well-received album, Celebrasion. The earnest subject matter of the "Waves" is juxtaposed against playful guitar riffs and reverb-laden shout along choruses. Even in the depths of sorrow, Sleeper Agent radiates a warm, carefree sound.
"Waves is ultimately about a private apocalypse," Sleeper Agent's Tony Smith explains. "It's about closing chapters of the past and watching all you knew crumble before you."
Founded in 2008 in Bowling Green, Justin Wilson (drums) collaborated with Tony Smith (guitar/vocals) and planted rock n' roll bugs around the local college music scene. The duo began to recruit other area operatives and within a few years Alex Kandel (vocals), Lee Williams (bass), Josh Martin (guitar), and Scott Gardner (keys/synth) had joined the band. With some help from friends (and fellow Bowling Green musicians), Matt & Brad Shultz of Cage the Elephant, the band released their debut album, Celebrasion, in 2011.
Sleeper Agent will hit the road with New Politics and Magic Man for a five week North American tour. This will get underway on January 14th in Houston and conclude in Los Angeles on February 19th.
