The Preatures
Apr 20, 2014

The new song from Sydney's the Preatures is "Is This How You Feel" released via Harvest Records. It's a clear departure from their early material, showcasing a newfound dedication to rhythm and restraint. It's a mid-tempo feel-good, groove-based confection that explodes into one of the year's best choruses. It can be found on their 5 track EP, Is This How You Feel. The single has attracted considerable success, winning the $50,000 Vanda & Young prize and it was nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Pop Release and it was voted ninth in the prestigious Triple J Hottest 100.
The Preatures are a five-piece band formed in 2010 and features Isabella Manfredi (vocals/keyboards), Gideon Bensen (guitar/vocals), Jack Moffitt (guitar), Thomas Champion (bass) and Luke Davison (drums). In 2013, the band won the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition for their single, "Is This How You Feel." Champion and Moffitt were high school friends who met up with Manfredi at the Australian Institute of Music in 2008.
They formed a band playing "bad Rolling Stones covers" and in 2010 added Bensen and Davison under the name The Preachers. In 2012, they changed the spelling of their name to The Preatures to avoid legal complications with other bands with similar names, signed with Mercury Records and released the EP Shaking Hands. The EP featured the single Take a Card and was featured on Triple J Unearthed.
