Joywave
May 12, 2014

Last year, the three-member, Rochester, NY group Joywave released the electro-pop anthem "Tongues," couched within their freely downloadable 2013 mixtape, 88888. More recently, on March 11th, they released their debut EP, How Do You Feel?, via Cultco Music/Hollywood Records. The first single just so happens to be "Tongues" which features KOPPS. It is a bedroom-eyed, bopping electronic romp.
Joywave front man Daniel Armbruster's voice is silky and thin, laid over beats that are at once bubbly and heavy, with soul-inspired horn interludes. The EP is effortless catchy, with the driving guitar riffs, prominent synths and anthem-like vocal tones.
The past 12 months has seen Joywave gathering significant fan support following on from a flurry of performances at SXSW as well as earning high praises from Hype Machine, Fader, Hypetrak, Interview Magazine, and Complex for their gallant debut release. Back in October 2013, Joywave collaborated with the electronic pop duo, Big Data, on their breakout format hit song, "Dangerous."
Joywave will perform at Lollapalooza this summer.
