Future Islands

Future Islands are a synth-pop band from Baltimore fronted by the silky-hipped and husky-voiced Samuel T. Herring. Their latest track out now is "Seasons (Waiting On You)" and it is taken from their fourth album Singles, which was released through 4AD on March 25th. The video for the song is full of archetypical American imagery: open roads, horse races, gas stations, prayer circles and channels the lifestyle of modern cowboys.
In a press release, singer Sam Herring said the song is "about love, letting go, learning from your mistakes and always feeling that pull-yearning for a certain love, as time goes by and seasons change. It is simply a song about the human experience."
Guitarist William Cashion notes that this album, Singles was written and recorded after promotion for 2011's On The Water ended, when he, Herring and keyboardist J. Gerrit Welmers all felt that they needed some rest from the road.
"We just decided to take a big break from touring, because we were basically on tour from 2009 through 2012," says Cashion.
For this new album, they worked with producer Chris Coady and they also decided to change up their creative process. For the first time, the group wrote way more songs than they needed to fill out a track list, and worked in a proper recording studio.
