alt-J
Jul 13, 2014

The second track and first single, released from Alt-J's sophomore album This Is All Yours via Canvasback/Atlantic is called "Left Hand Free". The album is due out on September 22nd.
In a recent interview, the Mercury Prize-winning outfit called the track "the least Alt-J song ever." Apparently, they spat out the song in 20 minutes flat only after their American label (Atlantic) said "Hunger of the Pine" wasn't the "big single."
This English band was formed in 2007 in Leeds, England by Gwil Sainsbury (guitar/bass), Joe Newman (guitar/lead vocals), Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboards/vocals) and Thom Green (drums).
Their debut album An Awesome Wave was released in May 2012 in Europe and September 2012 in the United States and won the 2012 British Barclaycard Mercury Prize. Gwil Sainsbury amicably departed the band in early 2014. Alt-J built quite a following with debut album, An Awesome Wave, and seemed to be getting bigger still as of the winter when support for the LP wound down.
The band's international tour supporting the new album begins on September 18th in Glasgow.
