"Karaoke" is the latest single to be released by Smallpools in anticipation of their forthcoming debut album, LOVETAP!, out March 24th via RCA Records. Co-produced by Ricky Reed and John Ryan, the track is an '80s-influenced jaunt with a serotonin-raising chorus and tinny synths.
"My wildest fantasy for this band would just be for us to continue writing exciting music that we're proud of for years and years to come," says Smallpools guitarist, Mike Kamerman. "I want create a community of Smallpools enthusiasts that will stick with us for a long time and make this band a career band. We are striving for longevity, not a quick success."
The Los Angeles-based four-piece band formed in 2013 and consists of members, Sean Scanlon (vocals), Mike Kamerman (guitar) Joseph Intile (bass) and Beau Kuther (drums). Working with producer trio Captain Cuts, the band released their debut single "Dreaming" online May 2013 and it quickly reached the #1 position on The Hype Machine, as well as reaching high positions on other Alternative Songs charts. The single was released as the first single off their debut EP Have a Great Summer. This track was also featured on the FIFA 14 soundtrack and used in the season 5 premiere of The Vampire Diaries. Just eight months after they first experimented with making music together, the foursome found themselves signing a major record deal with RCA, abandoning their day jobs and preparing to hit the road.
Smallpools tours with a set of white greyhound statues they place on the stage called smalldogs. They have supported several bands whilst touring America, including Two Door Cinema Club, Walk the Moon, Neon Trees, and Twenty One Pilots.
