Incubus
Feb 5, 2015

After debuting their first new song, "Trust Fall" at KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas this past December, the Southern Californian band Incubus, released their official single "Absolution Calling" to radio on February 5th. It's the first new music from the multi-platinum selling Incubus in four years.
Incubus was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer Jose Pasillas while enrolled in Calabasas High School and later the group expanded to include bassist Alex "Dirk Lance" Katunich, and Gavin "DJ Lyfe" Koppell; both of whom were eventually replaced by bassist Ben Kenney and DJ Kilmore respectively.
"We're doing this really fun thing right now where we're just writing songs and recording them and then releasing them, like as we finish them," Einziger noted in an interview with Kevin & Bean, on KROQ/Los Angeles. "We don't really know what's going to happen and the chaos that comes along with that is exhilarating. It sounds so corny but all we've ever done is as a band is to try and make music that gets us excited and hopefully other people will like it to. And, we're in the advanced information age when we can just put things out. We can record them and just put them out immediately."
Incubus has earned mainstream recognition with the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself. In 2001, Incubus became even more successful with the single "Drive" and their follow-up album Morning View. Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, debuted at No. 1 in 2006 and has received Gold certification in the U.S. Incubus released their first greatest hits album Monuments And Melodies in June 2009 and then If Not Now, When? was released in 2011.
Incubus is set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel on February 12th and on the 2015 Soundwave Music Festival in Australia on February 25th and 27th.
