Sound & Color is the follow-up to Alabama Shakes' Gold-certified debut album, Boys & Girls, which earned the group three GRAMMY nominations, including a nod for Best New Artist. This new album will be released on April 21st by ATO Records. The album's searing first single is "Don't Wanna Fight."
"We took our time to write this record, and I'm really glad we did," lead singer, Brittany Howard said in a statement. "We were able to sit down and think about what's exciting to us. This record is full of genre-bending songs."
Formed in 2009, Alabama Shakes consists of lead singer and guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, bassist Zac Cockrell, keyboard player Ben Tanner, and drummer Steve Johnson. They have received three nominations for the 2013 Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Best Rock Performance for "Hold On," and Best Recording Package for their debut album, Boys & Girls.
The Athens, AL-based band will kick off a North American headline tour with a sold-out, two-night stand at New York City's Beacon Theatre on March 11th & 12th. They will headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on August 16th. The evening will feature Very Special Guests Drive-By Truckers. Other supporting acts on the tour will include Neko Case (April 11), Songhoy Blues (March 11-15), Promised Land Sound (March 17-21) and Allah-Las (April 8 & April 18). Alabama Shakes will also be performing at many music festivals in 2015, including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam and Field Trip.
