MS MR
Apr 10, 2015

"Painted" is the new single from MS MR via Columbia Records. This jittery song is a thrilling new taste from the duo's anticipated follow-up to their 2013 debut album Secondhand Rapture, which is expected to be released this July. The heavily layered, uniquely shape-shifting piano-tinged track alternates rapidly between tempos, frequently punctuated by one line on repeat from Lizzy Plapinger: "What did you think would happen?"
The New York duo consists of vocalist Lizzy Plapinger and producer Max Hershenow. After both members graduated from Vassar College in 2010, MS MR released their highly praised debut album, Secondhand Rapture. It spawned the Alternative radio hit "Hurricane," which spent nearly 30 weeks on the chart and broke into the Top 10.
MS MR has spent much of the last two years touring the globe, joining fellow musicians Marina And The Diamonds, Bastille, Jessie Ware and Grouplove on the road, in addition to playing major festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, and Governors Ball.
The band has performed on The Tonight Show, Late Show with David Letterman, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, while their music has been featured on countless television shows including Game of Thrones, Pretty Little Liars, and the NFL on FOX. The duo is currently featured in Pyer Moss' Fall 2015 Look Book, where Lizzy and Max inspired a capsule collection for the clothing line's upcoming season.
MS MR has announced a string of underplay headline dates this spring, including shows in Toronto, Brooklyn, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The band first performed a handful of new tracks at last month's SXSW Music Festival. In addition to their headline shows, MS MR will also perform at this year's Lollapalooza festivals in both Chicago and Berlin as well as Osheaga Festival in Montreal.
