Rock Of The 80s (And 90s)
It all started on January 11th, 1983 with a pre-recorded message from GM John Lynch introducing the "new format." We are now 91X: Rock Of The 80s. The format was created by the late-great Rick Carroll (former KROQ/L.A. PD) who became 91X's consultant. 91X began the month long celebration in December 2012 with "91X 30 'Till 30," an on-air retrospective highlighting 91X music and culture over the years. Starting with 1983 and counting up year by year every day to January 11, 2013. 91X highlighted songs released each year and posted a "digital museum" with audio, photos, and memories collected by past and current 91X staff. You can relive each year of 91X here. Sharing the 91X memories and looking a bit distracted are (l-r) Katy Manor, Chris Muckley, Oz Medina, Mike Jacobs, Robin Roth, Mike Halloran, Max Tolkoff, Steve West, and Bryan Schock.
