We Want You To....

Today I received an e-mail from a radio station with the subject line, "We want you to....." I didn't read the rest. I didn't need to.

When people get pushed, do you know what they do? They push back.

You can't be inviting if you're ordering people around. You can't be welcoming if you're telling people what to do.

We're not their parents. We're their friends. Or at least that is a possibility.

Here's a challenge. Listen to your station for one day and count the times you tell people what do to. That includes James Dobson, Dennis Rainey, or anyone else's voice heard on your station.

Maybe there is a reason people push you away.
