BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Discography:
- 2014 - No Ordinary Moments
1. Brief history, synopsis....
I was born in Brooklyn, NY and I moved to Florida when I was 10-years-old. I loved growing up in New York, as I had so many cousins there, so it was always family time. I remember the move my family made to FL and it was definitely a transition, but my parents wanted me to have a better school experience than I would have had in New York. I currently live in Riverview, FL and besides being a recording artist; I am a Worship leader at my church, Life Changing International Ministry. I love getting back home after being on the road and worshipping with the team at my church.
2. What does a normal day at home look like for you?
A normal day for me when I'm home really just includes a lot of family time. I love to see my dad and the rest of my family since I don't get to see them that often when I'm on the road. When I'm off and back home, I normally hang out at my dad's home so I can spend quality time with him... and my dog. In the evenings, I watch TV with mom. Being home is the best!
3. What's the song that you just can't get out of your head right now?
Honestly, the song that is stuck in my head is called "Always" by SEU (Southeastern University) Worship. I love Worship music and this song really has blessed my life. It is constantly on repeat!
4. How do you juggle life on the road with wanting to be home? How much do you travel, what are the challenges?
It's not always easy. I'm always missing my family and my church while I'm on the road. I travel a lot, so having my brother, who is a part of my road team, with me really gives me a sense of home and family. I love what I get to do and just thinking about how fortunate I am gets me through the tough moments.
5. Tell us about the American Idol experience?
American Idol was an incredible experience that was so life changing and I will never forget it. It opened so many doors for me and I truly believe God used it as a platform for me to do His will. Obviously, Jennifer Lopez impacted my life. Her support really gave me a huge boost while I was on the show.
6. What's the last book you read?
The last book I read was Jesus Calling. It's a daily devotional that uses scripture as its foundation and is a good source to keep me centered in my faith. It spoke life into me and motivated me, because on any random day the verse was exactly what I needed to hear in that moment.
7. Tell us about how you became a believer. What caused you to want to serve God in full time ministry?
I was raised in a Christian home and my mother was a big influence with my spiritual walk. She taught me to follow and trust all things of the Lord. She was the example that makes me want to serve God.
8. Tell us about a few songs on your latest project, "No Ordinary Moments."
The first single from the new album is called "Hope For Tomorrow". It is a song that encourages people through eternal hope, which is always there even during our darkest moments.
"What It Means To Stay" is the name of my favorite song on the album. It conveys that no matter who is against us, who leaves us or breaks a promise to us, God is the one who will always be there for us.
9. Tell us about the "Relief for the Philippines" effort and your new single, "Hope For Tomorrow." How is that going? How can folks get involved?
I have teamed up with an incredible organization called Project Hope. A portion of the proceeds from my new single, Hope for Tomorrow, will go towards the recovery efforts in the Philippines. The area is still struggling with the devastation from the typhoon last November and the people need the help so badly. I am so grateful to be able to help in any way I can, as I have a special bond with the Filipinos. They have been so supportive of me and my career since my Idol days, and it means so much to me to be able to give back to them when they need it. If anyone reading this wants to take part in the rescue efforts, they can go to iTunes and download Hope For Tomorrow to help.
10. Person you'd most like to have a discussion with, living or dead.....Deities are excused from this question
I would love to sit down and talk with David from the Bible. He was a man after God's own heart, but he was full of imperfections. I can relate to him because I am full of imperfections also and strive to continually be a man after God's heart. I would love to discuss his life and what he would or wouldn't have changed during his lifetime.
