1. Birthplace, childhood, schools, jobs, etc.?
We all grew up in the same small town of Mt. Vernon, KY. We played music together and with other friends all throughout school. The first band was started when Mikey (singer) was 12 and Austin (drums) was 11. The four of us have been together in this band full time for over a decade. Throughout that time we've watched ourselves grow from a bunch of high school friends into husbands, fathers, and men of God.
2. What does a normal day at home look like for you?
All of us are married and half of us have kids. For the guys with kids our day pretty much resembles the set of "Kindergarten Cop" (minus the creepy bad guy and Arnold's muscles): dancing, glitter, foam swords, dirty diapers, and lots of laughter.
3. What's the song that you just can't get out of your head right now?
The theme from Veggie Tales. Kids... enough said.
4. How much do you travel, what are the challenges? How do you juggle life on the road with wanting to be home?
If you tallied it all up we are probably away from home at least half the year. Honestly, it's super difficult knowing that things come up every day with the wife and kids, and you just can't be there. You find ways to stay connected. We do FaceTime, daily devotionals, and keep an open and honest line of communication with our wives and family. We work to be aware of eachothers struggles and needs at all times.
5. What Artist or Pastor has had the greatest impact on you?
Mikey: My former youth pastor and life long mentor, Scott Stayton. He has continued to actively pour spiritual wisdom into my life.
Cliff: I know it's cliche, but my father is a pastor and a great part of the reason why do what I do.
6. What's the last book you read?
Cliff: I'm a big fantasy fiction buff. I'm currently reading a series by Robert Jordan. He was a religious man, and a lot of the themes he works with are about light and dark, good versus evil, and the choices that make us who we are.
7. Funniest or most embarrassing moment on the road?
Cliff: I fell through the stage once. It was in West Virginia at a camp in a very, very old church. It was probably around when Columbus was still sailing. The stage was too small so they extended it with plywood. I did a big jump with my bass and went straight through the stage and played the rest of the song up to my waist in plywood.
8. Tell us a little bit about your latest project.
Our new record "God is on the Move" is filled with a lot of excitement about the faithfulness of God to always come through on His promises and never leave us behind, even when we come up short of His big plan. The title track is a high energy song about the little ways we see God move in our hearts everyday, and how all these little instances are part of a big movement He has planned.
9. What organization/service group are you affiliated with?
This is our second year joining ministries with Food for the Hungry (FH). This year we got to travel to the Dominican Republic and meet our sponsored children through FH and it was amazing. The work they are doing to end world poverty is unlike anything we've encountered. It is one of the best examples of putting hands and feet to the Gospel that we have ever seen. They give people hope in a way that is without a doubt, Heavenly.
10. Person you'd most like to have a discussion with, living or dead.....Deities are excused from this question.
Mikey: Enoch.
Cliff: Judas Iscariot.
